HP 4396A and 4396B Repair Service and Software

S.I. repairs the venerable Hewlett Packard (now Agilent, Keysight) 4396A and 4396B Network, impedance and spectrum analyzers.

HP (Agilent, Keysight) 4396A Key Points:

The 4396A when combined with a test set, provides reflection measurements, such as return loss, and SWR and S parameters.

As a vector network analyzer, the Agilent, Keysight 4396A operates from 100 kHz to 1.8 GHz with 1 mHz resolution and its integrated synthesized source provides -60 to +20 dBm of output power with 0.1 dB resolution.

As a spectrum analyzer, the Agilent, Keysight 4396A operates from 2 Hz to 1.8 GHz with resolution bandwidth spanning 1 Hz to 3 MHz in a 1-3-10 sequence.

The Agilent, Keysight 4396A features a stepped Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) digital signal processing technique for 20 to 100 times faster narrow band spectrum measurement that swept-tuned spectrum analyzers.

A full featured impedance measurement function can be added to the Agilent, Keysight 4396A by adding Option 010 and the Agilent, Keysight 43961A RF impedance test kit covering from 100 kHz to 1.8 GHz, impedance parameters and more are directly measured and displayed on the CRT.

The Agilent, Keysight 4396A with option 1D6, offers time gated spectrum analysis capability to capture and measure repetitive burst signals in video, disk drives and communication equipment.

The dynamic magnitude and phase accuracy are ±0.05 dB and ±0.3 deg so that it can accurately measure gain and group delay flatness.

These analyzers were notorious for having display problems and failed power supplies.  We stock refurbished display modules, power supplies, and all major boards and assemblies.
